Featured image: The arcs of Marina City

We see this angle photographed all the time – the lower floors of the east tower on the right and the upper floors of the west tower on the left – but rarely is it executed so well.

The arcing lines are complimentary. The sharpness and detail are quite good. We wondered which professional photographer had captured this image – and, of course, it was a cardiologist.

Dr. Masumi Yamamuro was visiting on October 10 from Anniston, Alabama.

“Every time I visit Chicago,” he writes, “it is impossible for me to avoid taking a photograph of Marina City. For me, Marina City is Chicago, just like Eiffel Tower is Paris.”

The cold, cloudy day worked in his favor, eliminating shadows. He explored the city with his Canon 30D, making his way along the Chicago River.

“In the past, I only shot Marina City from the distance,” he recalls, but this time he decided to venture close. “I was completely mesmerized. Marina City was even more beautiful. All lines and curves that make Marina City were extremely elegant.”
