Vision for Wolf Point unveiled 30-May-12 – (Above) Rendering of a three-tower complex proposed for Wolf Point, just southwest of Merchandise Mart, unveiled at a neighborhood meeting Tuesday evening. (Click on image to view larger version.) Designed by bKL Architecture of Chicago and noted architect Cesar Pelli, the billion-dollar project would include (left to right) a 500-foot apartment building, a 900-foot office tower, and a 700-foot office tower. The combined area of the complex would be almost three million square feet on land owned by the Kennedy family, who owned Merchandise Mart until 1998. About 300 people attended the meeting organized by 42nd Ward alderman Brendan Reilly, who said there would be “several” more meetings about Wolf Point. Developed by Houston-based Hines Interests L.P., the towers would be completed between 2014 and 2020. However, the project will likely face opposition by residents and businesses whose views the towers would block.
