May 31, 2014 – The Chicago City Council has approved five more special parking spaces for food trucks and one of them is in River North.

Licensed food truck operators will be able to park for two hours for free in front of 151 North Franklin Street.

Similar to a loading zone, a “mobile food vehicle stand” helps food truck operators park safely in congested areas.

Chicago will soon have 35 food truck stands. River North has two locations on its north side – one at 219 West Chicago Avenue and the other at 729-829 North Larrabee Street. There is a stand near Michigan Avenue at 450 North Cityfront Plaza and on the north side of the Loop at 30 East Lake Street.
