Transformers filming at Millennium Park

28-Jul-10 – Filming for Transformers 3 takes over the central and south promenades at Millennium Park on Wednesday.

The Cloud Gate sculpture will be closed to the public from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. Filming will take place from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., with smoke and flame effects in the area.

The rest of the park will be open – including Crown Fountain, Lurie Garden, and Family Fun Festival.

Then for the rest of the day, until 9 p.m., filming will move to the MPEA Busway, the lower level parallel to Columbus Drive between Jackson Drive and Balbo Avenue. The Chicago police and fire departments will supervise smoke effects and explosions.

“Minimal impact to traffic” is what the Chicago Office of Emergency Management & Communications promises for the week.
