Photo by Dustin Harvey February 15, 2011 – (Left) Chicago mayoral candidate Gery Chico takes a moment at a fundraiser at Dick’s Last Resort last Thursday to pose for a mobile phone photo with Marina City resident Nancy Kolos. (Photo by Dustin Harvey.)

Kolos was a teacher of Chico’s at Thomas Kelly High School in southwest Chicago in the early 1970s. Due to a hip injury, Chico was in a wheelchair during his freshman year.

According to Dustin Harvey, a leasing manager at Alto Realty, Chico “sat with us for over 20 minutes and talked about the school and the teachers. He also sat and looked through the yearbooks that Nancy had with him. It was actually very refreshing to have a mayor candidate sit and have an actual conversation with her.”
