Marina City web sites jockey for traffic rankings MCO moves into third place 30-Oct-09 – SkyscraperCity.com and the web site for Hotel Sax Chicago held onto their top rankings in October of 19 sites with a Marina City connection. The web analysis company Alexa says Skyscraper City, operated by Marina City resident Jan Klerks, is still the top site, with hotelsaxchicago.com a distant second. According to Alexa, traffic to Skyscraper City increased nine percent over the past three months and two percent at the Hotel Sax site.

Marina City Online, says Alexa, moved into third place with a 150 percent increase in traffic, followed by chicagocarless.com, bin36.com, and 10pinchicago.com. MCO had the biggest three-month increase measured in September and tied with amanochicago.com for the biggest increase in October. According to Google Analytics, Marina City Online received 3,804 unique visitors in September and 5,327 unique visitors in October. Alexa bases its traffic estimates on data collected from users of its toolbar and other sources over three months. Traffic was up at eight of the sites related to Marina City and down at five. Six sites either did not have enough traffic to be ranked or did not have enough traffic prior to October with which to compare. Alexa believes marina-city.com lost the most traffic this time, down 90 percent from August to October. For the second month, mymtca.com, the web site of Marina Towers Condominium Association, did not have enough traffic to be ranked. However, landmarkmarinacitynow.org surfaced, taking a spot in last place of 14 sites that could be ranked.
Draper & Kramer’s web site, dkcondo.com, which serves 82 associations including Marina Towers, had an Alexa rank of 2,246,810. lynnbecker.com is just a page with a link to architecture writer Lynn Becker’s blog, which cannot be ranked because it is a sub-domain of blogspot.com. In August, there were about 226 million web sites, according to the Internet services company Netcraft. The top three sites on the web, according to Alexa, are google.com, facebook.com, and yahoo.com.
