27-Nov-17 – Robbery victims were pushed and punched by a group of young men in recent incidents north of the Loop, according to Chicago police, including three locations near Washington Square Park.

Six incidents were reported between November 4 and November 18 – three during late-night hours but one at 2:45 in the afternoon and another at 8:40 p.m.

In each incident, three or four African-American men, 18 to 25 years old, approached victims, assaulted them, and stole personal property before running away.

Two incidents happened near Washington Square Park on November 4 – on West Delaware Place at 1:57 a.m. and West Chestnut Street at 3:10 a.m. A third incident that night happened near the intersection of West Huron Street and North Wells Street at 1:14 a.m.

On November 14, two incidents were reported – one in the 900 block of North State Street, about a block east of Washington Square Park, at 2:45 p.m. The other, in the 800 block of North Dearborn Street, about two blocks south of the park, at 8:50 p.m.

Then on November 18, a robbery happened in the 600 block of North Wells Street at 11:54 p.m.

The men are described as five-feet-seven-inches to six-feet-two-inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds.

Commercial burglaries the work of one suspect

One man is suspected in five burglaries of businesses in River North, including one at Merchandise Mart in the early morning hours of November 11.

The man, described as Hispanic, five-feet-ten-inches tall, 145 pounds, with black hair in a ponytail, forced open doors and windows before stealing computers and other property.

The incidents happened between November 10 and November 14, during late night and early morning hours. Besides Merchandise Mart, the burglaries occurred in the 800 block of North Dearborn Street, 100 block of West Kinzie Street, 200 block of West Superior Street, and 400 block of West Huron Street.

Lower Michigan Avenue robber caught

Police have caught a suspect in the robbery of a man on Lower Michigan Avenue just south of the Chicago River.

Chicago Police Department Jerry Brown (left), age 25, lives on South King Drive about ten miles south of the Loop. He is accused of striking a 49-year-old man in the face and taking money from him. The incident happened on November 21 at about 1:55 a.m.

Police found Brown, about ten minutes later, a few blocks west on North State Street in the Loop. He is charged with one felony count of robbery and was in bond court on November 23.
