April 29, 2008 – Construction will begin in July to extend the riverwalk on the south bank of the Chicago River under the Michigan Avenue and Wabash Avenue bridges to State Street. The $8-10 million project should be completed by the end of the year.

According to the Chicago Department of Transportation, the goal is to eventually extend the pedestrian pathway under the bridges even further west to Lake Street.
