Marina City to help tell story of ‘Chicago’s River’

December 24, 2013 – Marina City makes 13 appearances in a new book due out next year about the Chicago River.

Chicago’s River At Work And At Play will cover the early years of the river, the architecture, tragic events such as the Eastland Disaster, threats to the waterway system, and the future of the Chicago River.

It will be the 22nd book about Chicago written or published by Dr. Neal Samors. His previous books include Downtown Chicago in Transition and The Rise of The Magnificent Mile.

Chicago’s River will include a preface by former Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley, introduction by Gary Johnson, president of the Chicago History Museum, foreword by Lynn Osmond, president of the Chicago Architecture Foundation, 63 historic images, and 55 full color photographs by Chicago photographer and MCO editor Steven Dahlman.

“The reader will be able to ‘go’ on a Chicago Architecture Foundation river tour as presented by two experienced CAF docents,“ promises Samors, “Then, one will learn, in detail, the issues challenging the future of the river along with plans to continue building a beautiful Riverwalk which the city’s residents and visitors will be able to enjoy.”

Chicago’s Books Press Chicago’s Books Press will publish the 192-page book on March 14.
