22-Aug-23 – “Life on the Chicago River” is the theme for the first annual art contest of the McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum. Friends of the Chicago River, which operates the museum, says the contest “will give artists the unique opportunity to bring the health, vitality, dynamic history, and vibrant future of the Chicago-Calumet River system into representation in a range of mediums.” Those mediums include paintings, etchings, printmaking, collages, screen-printing, chalk, pastel, charcoal drawings, spray paint art, and other hand-made illustrations. Not included are AI-generated pieces, sculptures, graphic design, and photography. Bridgehouse Museum staff will select five of the top works to display throughout September and October in the museum’s main corridor. The deadline to submit artwork is September 1, 2023.
