6-Mar-18 – An off-duty Chicago police officer was hit in the head with a water bottle and robbed over the weekend in River North.

The 24-year-old man was on North Wells Street between Ohio and Ontario Streets at about 2:30 on Saturday morning, when a group of at least three men approached him.

One of the men threw a bottle at the officer, cutting his head. Then they robbed him of his mobile phone and other items.

He was treated at Presence Saint Joseph Hospital on North Lake Shore Drive.

Chicago Police Department confirmed the victim was a Chicago police officer. A description of the men who robbed him was not available.
