April 27, 2017 Chocolate bridges are raised along a chocolate Chicago River next to a chocolate version of Marina City in an exhibit at Macys that has not melted or been eaten in about 14 years. Chocolatier Joseph Schmidt interpreted Chicago with a little paint, a little glue, and a lot of chocolate, according to a sign on the display case.
The miniature scene has out-lived Joseph Schmidt Confections, which was purchased by a subsidiary of The Hershey Company in 2005 and closed in 2009. Until then, you could buy the companys gourmet Belgian chocolate at Macys. The display is on the 7th floor next to the Walnut Room and near the central escalators.
