Langham opens restaurant and spa

21-Aug-13 – Although a “grand opening” is still about three weeks away, River North’s latest luxury hotel has been quickly getting up to full speed. Guests have been checking in to The Langham, a 316-room hotel located on 12 of the 52 floors of 330 North Wabash, since a July 10 “soft opening.”

On August 12, The Langham opened its main restaurant, Travelle, in the southwest corner of the second floor, along with a luxury spa on the fourth floor.

The 9,000 square foot Chuan Spa offers seven treatment rooms, including a “contemplation room,” and is part a 22,000 square foot fitness facility. Chuan, which means, “flowing water” in Chinese, is the only global spa brand, according to Langham, that is based on traditional Chinese medicine “that treats the body as a whole.”

Dr. Lo Ka Shui, a medical doctor who is executive chairman of Langham Hospitality Group, based in Hong Kong, will be in Chicago for the grand opening on September 10, along with concert pianist Lang Lang.

Also in September, 330 North Wabash will change its name to AMA Plaza. American Medical Association, whose lease is up this month at 515 North State Street, is moving in above the Langham, relocating to floors 39 through 47.
