January 26, 2015 – 600 new jobs will added to Chicago’s economy by a tech company based in River North.

ContextMedia, Inc., which has about 110 full-time employees working in 33,000 square feet at AMA Plaza, will create 200 new jobs this year and 400 next year.

The jobs, according to CEO Rishi Shah, will cover “numerous skill levels and sectors, including sales and marketing, analysts, and software developers.”

ContextMedia provides health-related video content often watched in the waiting rooms of medical offices and facilities. They make their money from advertising included with this content, typically for pharmaceutical companies and health care providers.

They have a captive audience. According to the company, the average patient with a chronic health condition spends 34 minutes in a waiting room before seeing a doctor.

Shah estimated last March that the company would earn $20 million in 2014.

“Chicago used to be the flyover city for the tech community,” said Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Monday. “Today we are becoming the destination city for the best tech companies and the best tech talent, as the great team at ContextMedia can attest.”
