23-Jul-23 – Pedestrian activity and hotel occupancy continue to improve in the Loop, according to the organization working to accelerate its economic recovery. Chicago Loop Alliance says during the week of May 22, pedestrian activity on State Street was 93 percent of what it was before the pandemic. Citywide, hotel occupancy during the week of May 22-29 increased 65 percent from 2020. “Warmer weather brought a flurry of activity to the Loop, amidst the continued return of major events driving local and international tourism,” said Michael Edwards, President/CEO of Chicago Loop Alliance. CLA credits events such as the Taylor Swift concerts and James Beard Awards, along with business conferences and leisure travel. |
