It’s a Mag Mile Halloween (Above) The winner of a “Day of the Dead” costume contest Saturday night at The Peninsula hotel in River North will receive a free overnight stay there. (Click on images to view larger versions.) 28-Oct-15 – Some of Chicago’s least scary neighborhoods have called in The Magnificent Mile Association to promote their Halloween offerings. The 750-member non-profit association, formerly known as Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, covers a “Magnificent Mile district” that stretches from Randolph Street in the Loop to North Avenue on the edge of the Gold Coast, and includes areas both east and west of Michigan Avenue. Some of the more notable Halloween events this year include Rebar Halloween at the Trump Where: Trump International Hotel & Tower, 401 North Wabash Avenue Map Be dazzled by your personal mixologist’s specialty potions, creating unique and eerie cocktails to suit the evening’s mood. A Nightmare in Sweetsville Halloween Party Where: Dylan’s Candy Bar, 445 North Michigan Avenue Map A costume is required at this party. There will be a live DJ in the Candy Café, a costume contest, and a raffle. Tickets: $100 per person. Open bar with select spirits and appetizers. dana hotel transforms into The Shining’s Overlook Hotel Where: dana hotel & spa, 660 North State Street Map Drawing from Stanley Kubrick’s classic horror film, hotel guests and the general public are invited to experience a spooky hotel package for those who dare to spend the night, a costume party at Vertigo Sky Lounge, a REDRUM brunch at freestyle food + drink, and ghoulish spa treatments inspired by the movie. Guests can also partake in in-room screenings of The Shining, as well as showings on the second floor of freestyle. TILT & Treat 360 CHICAGO Halloween Party Where: John Hancock Center’s 94th floor observation deck When: October 30 7-11 p.m. The space will transform into a ghostly haunted house, set against a backdrop of its famous 360-degree views. Fright Night at The Bar Where: The Peninsula Chicago, 108 East Superior Street Map Costume contest, “Day of the Dead” face painting, live DJ, creepy cocktails, and prizes. Come dressed in the spirit of the day and your first drink is complimentary. Grand prize for best dressed Day of the Dead costume is an overnight stay in a newly redesigned guest room, including parking and breakfast. No fee to enter the costume contest. Judging at 10 p.m.
