September 19, 2010 – (Above) The gear room inside the Michigan Avenue Bridge was at rest on Saturday. Although it was the first day of the annual ritual of raising Chicago River bridges to let sailboats pass, there were no sailboats needing to get to their winter docks. The bridges will be raised every week through the end of October. The next scheduled day is Wednesday. (Click on image to view larger version.)
