Radio hall of fame ceremony moved to L.A. 6-Jun-14 – River North has lost, at least for this year, an annual ceremony, broadcast nationwide, that honors legends of radio. The National Radio Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be broadcast live on November 9 from Los Angeles, the organization announced on Thursday. Hosted by Larry King, the 2012 and 2013 ceremonies were held at the Museum of Broadcast Communications, which opened on North State Street on June 13, 2012. “There are many Radio Hall of Famers living in southern California and several 2014 inductees, so it seems like a great time to try something different,” said Bruce DuMont, the museum’s founder and president. This year’s seven inductees include radio commercial producer Dick Orkin, who created the long-running syndicated radio serial Chickenman at WCFL in Chicago in the late 1960s, This American Life host Ira Glass, and actress Agnes Moorhead (above), posthumously, who was one of radio’s busiest actresses before achieving her greatest fame as Endora on the television situation comedy Bewitched.
