Vincent ‘Suit Man’ Falk documentary out on DVD 9-Dec-12 – The 95-minute documentary about Marina City resident Vincent Falk has been released on DVD. Jennifer Burns, the film’s producer and director, made the announcement last Wednesday. Vincent: A Life In Color follows Falk through a tour boat season on the Chicago River as he dances on bridges – for the amusement of tourists – while dressed in brightly colored suits. The film took three years to make. Since it premiered at a film festival in Wilmington, North Carolina on November 14, 2008, the documentary has been shown at festivals in California, Michigan, New Mexico, Oregon, and Washington. In Chicago, it was shown more than 15 times at the Gene Siskel Film Center. Film critic Roger Ebert called it a “remarkable documentary” and one of “the best documentaries I saw in 2010.”
The 63-year-old star of the documentary remains at Warren Barr Pavilion, a nursing facility in River North, recovering from recent surgery to correct a detached retina. Born with glaucoma in one eye and blind in the other eye, Falk has undergone multiple surgeries and procedures, including a fourth cornea transplant on December 13, 2011. “Vince has had a bit of a rough year,” says Burns, “with multiple eye surgeries keeping him off the bridges. Of course, he remains optimistic, colorful, and ‘puntastic’ as always.” Through the end of the year, Burns is offering a $2.99 discount when the DVD is purchased from the film’s website. Vincent: A Life In Color is also available as a digital download.
