Former condo lawyer indicted for murder wants recent statements to police excluded
13-Nov-16 – A former Chicago condo lawyer indicted for murder wants statements he made to the police three years ago, without an attorney present, excluded from the case against him. Dr. Donnie Rudd made his first appearance at Cook County Circuit Court in Rolling Meadows last Thursday since paying $400,000 to post bond set at $4 million, a typical arrangement if a bail bondsman is used. He was released on September 15 after nine months in custody. According to a source familiar with the case, the comments Rudd wants excluded were made to investigators from the Arlington Heights police department during lengthy questioning in 2013. Despite there being an arrest warrant, the source says Rudd was told he was not under arrest and was not allowed to contact his attorney.
At one time, Rudd had a law firm in Schaumburg with, he has said, more than 2,000 clients, mostly homeowner associations, and in 1983, he co-wrote amendments to the Illinois Condominium Property Act. In 1994 he voluntarily changed the status of his Illinois law license to inactive after four complaints were filed against him with the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. With degrees in bioscience, bioengineering, and chemical engineering, Rudd then became an expert on stem cells. He has more than 40 patents, mostly related to cell regeneration, repair of human tissue, and curing diseases to vital organs. In 2013, a company that Rudd founded, WeHealAnimals, Inc., was acquired by Hanover Portfolio Acquisitions, now known as Endonovo Therapeutics, Inc., a publicly-traded company. Previously, Rudd was Chief Scientist, Director of Intellectual Property, and Corporate Secretary for a stem cell research company called Regenetech, Inc., until it was sold in 2009.
