Moore then ran away but was captured by police in the lobby of 1440 North Lake Shore Drive. He was in possession of a 40-caliber handgun with extended magazine. According to police, Moore admitted to trying to hijack the Mercedes. The attempted carjacking charge is punishable by up to 15 years in prison, according to the United States Attorney’s Office. Moore will be in a federal courtroom on Monday.
Moore is also suspected of shooting a motorist in the 1000 block of North State Street and carjacking three other vehicles. Both shooting victims were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment and their conditions have stabilized, according to Chicago police. Arrest records show that Moore, who lives in the North Lawndale neighborhood west of the Loop, has previously been charged with domestic battery and criminal damage to property.
