December 29, 2014 – Four construction workers were injured Monday morning while building River Point, the 52-story office building along the Chicago River, north of Lake Street and east of Canal Street.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, three ironworkers were connecting a large steal beam to a column shortly after 9 a.m. when two bolts on the beam broke. The beam and the ironworkers fell about 20 feet to a safety net. A fourth worker on the ground was struck by debris.

The workers, three of them in serious condition, were taken to nearby hospitals.

Lend Lease is the general contractor. On August 29, the developer, Hines Interest LP, reported that site preparation and caisson installation were complete and excavation of the site had started.
