11-Jun-23 – Wearing their yellow and black uniforms, the State Street Ambassadors have broadened their horizons. Chicago Loop Alliance says the ambassadors have started patrolling more of the central Loop. Through October 7, they will cover, five days a week, afternoons and evenings, an area from Wacker Drive south to Ida B. Wells Drive, and from Dearborn Street west to Canal Street. They will continue to patrol State Street seven days a week.

The unarmed ambassadors, trained in de-escalation tactics, come from Streetplus, a service that provides cleaning, safety, and hospitality services to business districts. In addition to greeting and assisting visitors to the Loop, Streetplus “Street Teams” will focus on public safety issues including panhandling and homelessness.
