Closed for six weeks by pipe burst, Amano re-opens |

(Above) In mirror at right, employees of Amano Italian Trattoria can be seen in last-minute huddle before the Marina City restaurant re-opened late Wednesday afternoon. A pipe that was part of the sprinkler system, seen at the top of the photo, burst due to bitter cold on January 16, severely damaging wood floors at the bottom of the photo.
The floors had to be replaced. An Amano co-owner declined to give a monetary estimate of the damage. The same thing happened with another sprinkler pipe on the north side of the commercial platform, causing damage estimated at $20,000 to floors of the MTCA meeting room and adjacent offices.
23-May-09 - Draper & Kramer filed an insurance claim of $34,378.80, according to property manager David Gantt at the April 30, 2009, MTCA board of directors meeting. MTCA was reinbursed in the amount of $30,357 - plus a projector that, says Gantt, the insurance company "was nice enought to buy" for them.
