99 Chicago Riverwalk
21-Dec-16 – Though homeless or at risk of homelessness, StreetWise magazine vendors had a good day at a fundraising event this month that was hosted by McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum. Selling t-shirts custom-designed by 15 local artists, the vendors raised $7,000. Another $6,000 was raised online, according to Friends of the Chicago River, which operates the bridgehouse and museum. The December 8 event, Give A Shirt, was organized by Daily Planet Productions, a video, animation, and motion graphics studio.
StreetWise vendors buy magazine issues for 90 cents and sell them on the street for $2 each. |
